7th Grade Science

Welcome!  This blog is for Miss. Rosas 7th Grade Science Class. Parents are encouraged to come on here and read and see what their students are up to! Students are also welcome to come on here and read what we have done for any given day and also to be reminded of their homework and any important due dates! NO excuses class!!

ANIMAL CELL MODELS

Cells, also known as the building blocks of life, is the basic structural and functional unit of all known living organisms. We became experts in the structures of cells and what they are composed of today. After we learned that the inside of a cell is made up of:
  • Nucleus
    • Nucleolus (within nucleus)
  • Rough endoplasmic reticulum (ER)
  • Smooth ER
  • Ribosomes
  • Cytoskeleton
  • Golgi apparatus
  • Cytoplasm
  • Mitochondria
  • Vesicles
  • Lysosomes
  • Centrosome
    • Centrioles
we made models to represent each organelle. Each student was randomly assigned an organelle to make a model for using different material that was provided. At the end of the class period we put all our models together to make up the animal cells! Here are some pictures of animal cell models for each period.

This is a video that provides some interesting information about cells and other things we have already learned in class. We didn't have time in class to watch it so enjoy!
